Young Devon announces new Chief Executive Officer

Young Devon Welcomes New Chief Executive. Young Devon has announced that it has selected Andy Moreman to be the next Chief Executive of the charity.

Andrew began his career in 1998 as a Project Co-ordinator with Romsey Mill Community Centre and has since progressed through roles in schools, local authorities, the charity sector and social enterprise. Throughout this time, Andy has focused his energies on improving services and outcomes for young people.

His appointment comes after a five month national search which reviewed some 58 candidates from across the UK. Richard Stevens, Chair of Young Devon, said:

“The Young Devon Trustee Board are delighted that Andy will be taking on the role of Chief Executive. He brings with him a wealth of experience across the charity and youth sectors. He has the knowledge, experience and background to lead the organisation during the next stages of our development and to ensure the continued delivery of a range of high-quality and life-changing services for young people across Devon.”

Andy will start at Young Devon in early September 2017, once he has transitioned his current CEO responsibilities. On being appointed, Andrew said: “Young Devon is a fantastic charity with a great track record for standing alongside young people and working with them to change the odds in their favour. I am looking forward to the opportunity to realise the potential of both the organisation and the young people it serves. I have a passion for seeing young people take leadership in the services they use and can't wait to meet more of them and get to work.”

St Thomas Park, Exeter - community event

June 17th 1.30-4.30pm

St Thomas, Exeter is behind Merrivale Youth Centre/ Westside Youth Centre, Off Buddle Lane, St Thomas Exeter EX4 1PZ. This establishment was a youth centre but it closed down 3 years ago and now is all boarded up.

A local community builder is working with Exeter Community Initiatives to engage with the local community and find out what they value, what they'd like to change and what they'd like to see happen. The idea is also that the more community people have in their lives the better their health, life expectancy and they are less dependent on health services.

To celebrate the space and engage with local residents; tere is an event on June 17th 1.30-4.30pm with Exeter City Football in the Community, Exeter Parkour and Active Devon together with various small community groups to celebrate the people who live there. Also, at the same time there will be some community listening happening.
