Delivery Organisations with the Transform Ageing Programme

Collaboration is needed across sectors and within local communities in order to bring the right stakeholderstogether to support the creation of a health and care system that is more
personalised, more connected and above all more preventative. Transform Ageing is a pioneering programme, taking a design-led approach to improving people’s experience of ageing, this new,
cross-sector initiative will bring together people in later life, social entrepreneurs and health and social care leaders to define, develop and deliver innovative product and service solutions that better support the needs and aspirations of our ageing communities.

Funded by the Big Lottery Fund and delivered by Design Council in partnership with UnLtd, the South West Academic Health Science Network and the Centre for Ageing Better, from now until mid-2019 we will be working with local communities in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset to establish the wants and needs of people in later life in those communities. We can’t do this alone, the local
communities, individuals, carers, family, friends and professions in each of these regions need to be at the heart of this process. We need to work with local organisations to make this happen.
We are looking for up to four delivery organisations or consortia of organisations – ideally one in each of Cornwall, Somerset, north, east and west Devon and south Devon

Please find attached further information on the role of the Delivery Organisation with the Transform Ageing Programme. The formal expression of interest process will be launched in January.

We'd like to tell you a bit more about Balloons

Background information about Balloons

Balloons provides 1:1 pre and post bereavement support to children and young people (C&YP) aged 5-25 living in Exeter, Mid & East Devon. We also support their families by providing our telephone helpline and our family events, and deliver childhood grief training to local agencies. We work with C&YP when they have experienced catastrophic loss, where death is a result of murder, suicide or a fatal accident. We also work closely with C&YP when a parent or sibling has a terminal diagnosis, supporting them to face a very difficult future in the run up to and the aftermath of the death.

Did you know...?

  • 1 in 29 schoolchildren have been bereaved of a parent or sibling – that’s one pupil in every class
  • 70% of schools have a bereaved pupil on their roll at any given time.
  • About 1,800 children & young people living in Exeter, Mid and East Devon are experiencing the death of someone close to them at any one time.

Baloons also have some some training around supporting bereaved children & young people. Take a look at our trianing section for more details
