Job Title: Youth Support Worker

Location: John Tallack Centre, Cullompton

Employing Organisation: Involve Voluntary Action in Mid Devon (on behalf
of Cullompton Youth Development Partnership)

DBS: Mandatory Enhanced

Reporting to: Senior Community Youth Worker

Hours of Work: 7 hours per week (to include Monday and
Wednesday evenings, 6pm – 9pm)

Pay Scale SwY-10 (FTE £22,491)

Working with the Senior Community Youth Worker, you will assist in the
planning, delivery and evaluation of regular youth provision, based at The John
Tallack Centre in Cullompton.

• Engage young people in face-to-face youth work in open access and
targeted provision during evening sessions.

• Ensure young people are engaged in, and have the opportunity to,
influence the planning, delivery and evaluation of youth provision.

• Contribute to the planning of a fun and educational curriculum that
engages, inspires and challenges young people appropriately.

• Develop a relationship with young people based on respect and trust,
ensuring they have a safe place to develop their identity and place in
society.

• Recognise, reward and celebrate young people's achievements, learning
and successes.

• Demonstrate consistently high standards of practice that put the needs of
young people at the forefront of all activity.

• Establish boundaries and challenge inappropriate behaviour.

• Resource and building duties, which may include opening buildings for
service delivery use and securing after, preparing buildings/resources,
checking their suitability for use.

• Attend regular training and development opportunities to maintain an up-
to-date knowledge.

• Undertake administrative tasks which assist with maintaining effective
recording systems for youth work.

• Identify opportunities for improving day to day procedures and processes
within the team or work area, and contributing these to team planning, to
support the continuous improvement of services.

• Operate in accordance with organisational policy and procedures and
relevant standards for youth work.

• Be a team player who is prepared to share ideas, make best use of
resources, have a go at new things and have fun!
