The St Thomas and Alphington Youth Club is a new youth provision in the West of Exeter. This is a unique opportunity to create, lead and shape this extracurricular youth provision. The Senior Youth Support Worker in Charge will have the opportunity to create the programme of activity with a view to expanding the youth club to meet the needs of the young people in the local community from the ages of 9 to 17. The Senior Youth Support Worker in Charge will deliver high quality youth work and leadership with an aim to build trust and mentor the groups attendees to enhance the young people’s wellbeing and to help them find a sense of belonging through the group. As well as coordinating guided activities, offering opportunities to experience new things in a safe way, and create a safe space for young people to meet regularly to connect, all contributing to increased positive outcomes in life.
– Administrative tasks around the running of the youth club
– Lead and shape the St Thomas/Alphington Youth Club, create a programme of events in consultation with the young people to meet their needs and to give the young people opportunities to focus on wellbeing, experience new opportunities and activities through invited guests, external trips.
– Work with Exeter City Community Trust and to deliver and lead high quality youth work within West Exe School initially and other sites in the community.
– Work with the Exeter City Community Trust and Sovereign team to ensure that all work has evaluation, demonstrating the outcomes and impact.
– Recognise, reward and celebrate young people’s efforts and their learning. To be able to walk with the young people on their journey and to support, signpost and celebrate with them whilst working towards and achieving their goals.
– Working collaboratively and respectfully with professionals and practitioners delivering other youth programmes within Exeter City Community Trust.
– To have a knowledge of what’s going on in the community.
– An ability to create, deliver and lead fun and engaging youth work sessions.
– To directly feed the outcomes of the sessions into the evaluation and impact reports to demonstrate how the youth club is enabling the young people to thrive.
