We are looking for an enthusiastic English teacher, whether newly qualified or experienced. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with students of all abilities, be proactive, have excellent communication skills and be experienced in establishing successful learning relationships with young people and colleagues.

 What is the role

  • Individual Learning Plans (ILPs): Collaborate with the students' mainstream school and other professionals to develop and implement ILPs tailored to the specific needs of each student

  • Assessments and Progress Monitoring: Conduct ongoing assessments and track the progress of students to identify areas of improvement and adjust intervention strategies accordingly

  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons, ensuring that the needs of students are met. Teach high quality lessons so that all students achieve their targets

  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning, respect, and discipline

  • Student Support: Provide academic and emotional support to students, addressing their individual needs and promoting their overall well-being

  • Student Progress: Develop and implement targeted intervention strategies alongside subject leads, to support students in improving their academic performance in English

  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents/guardians, partner school and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach in supporting students' progress and successful integration

  • Use data and information from our partner schools to inform teaching and learning, identify areas for intervention and provide feedback to students, staff and families in order to promote progress and outcomes with a specific focus on intervention for vulnerable groups

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, interventions, and any relevant observations or incidents

About You:  

  • Qualified Teacher status, graduate or equivalent

  • Can deliver engaging and interactive lessons to KS3 and KS4 students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment

  • Can articulate a love of their subject

  • Is able to communicate effectively with students of all abilities

  • Can work well within a team and support colleagues when needed

  • Can work with partner schools to ensure correct delivery of work

  • Cares about students, their learning, and their futures

  • Can manage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful and nurturing environment so that students can focus on learning

  • Is committed to participating in professional development programmes and will engage in mentoring opportunities provided by the school
