Description :

Role title: Youth Support Worker

Responsible to: Youth Worker & Trustees, Anstey Community Hall

Based At: Anstey Community Hall

Frequency: Weekly/School holidays

Hours available Minimum 3 hours – maximum 8 hours/week to include evening session, school holiday daytime session & Youth Council meetings

Main Purpose of Job

• To establish positive relationships with young people aged 6 – 16 years in a way that meets the needs of young people and the areas of benefit of Anstey Community Hall

Main Responsibilities and Duties

• Working with the Youth Worker, to be actively involved in direct youth work with young people in the club in a way that includes a commitment to young people’s participation

• To contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of programmes designed to meet the interests and needs of young people, working with the Youth Worker

• To contribute to the planning, monitoring and evaluation of youth work taking place as part of the youth work team 

• To establish supportive and effective working relationships with other staff and work as an effective team member within the club. To contribute to the development of a positive environment for work with young people

• To lead or take joint responsibility for youth work delivery, if required. To give associated direction to staff and volunteers as part of this delivery session if required.

• To ensure, as part of the Youth Work team, that in fulfilling the main task, the procedures and policies adopted comply with Anstey Community Hall policies and legal requirements, e.g. health and safety, child protection/safeguarding, equality and diversity and financial regulations. Any concerns should be brought to the attention of the Line Manager.

• To contribute to day to day administration in order to ensure the smooth running of the youth club

• The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties commensurate with this level of post.
