We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate school teacher to join our provision. This role is primarily focused on providing support to students outside of their regular lessons, in a 1-1 capacity or very small groups, particularly in the areas of English and Maths. They will work with the subject leads at Chances and the students' mainstream schools to create intervention packages that will support students in catching up on any lost learning and/or working beyond their current working levels.

Salary: Main Teacher Pay Scale (M1: £28,000 to M6: £38,810) - qualified teacher status

 What is the role

  • Early Intervention Support: Develop and implement targeted intervention strategies alongside subject leads to support students in improving their academic performance in English and Maths

  • Integration Support: Facilitate the successful integration of students into mainstream schools by providing individualised assistance, mentorship, and guidance

  • Individual Learning Plans (ILPs): Collaborate with the students' mainstream school and other professionals to develop and implement ILPs tailored to the specific needs of each student

  • Assessments and Progress Monitoring: Conduct ongoing assessments and track the progress of students to identify areas of improvement and adjust intervention strategies accordingly

  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons, ensuring that the needs of students are met

  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning, respect, and discipline

  • Student Support: Provide academic and emotional support to students, addressing their individual needs and promoting their overall well-being

About You:  

  • Qualified Teacher status, graduate or equivalent

  • Successful classroom experience of managing challenging behaviour in the classroom

  • An understanding of the Key Stage 3 / 4 National Curriculum

  • Detailed understanding of the characteristics of effective teaching and learning and of effective assessment practices

  • Effective written and verbal communication

  • ICT literate

  • A strong understanding of intervention strategies

  • An ability to differentiate instructions to accommodate students with diverse learning needs
