Description :

Could you be a gamechanger for a young person in need of help and support?

Can you lend us a little of your time and talents to help transform young lives?

This is an amazing opportunity for you to change the lives of young people aged 16-25 with a background of trauma in Devon. Train to be a mentor with this fantastic and supportive charity and make a difference to young people in the community whilst having fun and doing something different.

Choosing to become a mentor with the Life Chance Trust could be the start of something HUGE.  Let’s get started!

Who we’re looking for:

You’re a good listener, with an open, inclusive, and non-judgemental attitude. You enjoy meeting new people and learning new skills, and you’d like to spend some time alongside a young person, helping them to develop and grow.

You may also be driven to help others as a result of:

  • your own challenges in life, overcoming childhood trauma and adversity, and/or
  • previous or current work you do with young people: including as a parent/carer, in education or in the community.

Ideally, you’ll have your own transport, or good access to public transport.

Time commitment: Up to 3 hours for induction and training, then 2 hour a week (1 directly mentoring) for at least 12 weeks. Approx 4 optional small group skills-based sessions.

Induction, Training & Support: You will receive an induction and training session when you first start. Once you start your volunteering, you will have access to a coach provided by the charity throughout to offer support and advice. Volunteering for Life Chance Trust provides you with an incredible opportunity to enhance your CV and develop personal and professional skills and experience.

Expenses: This isn’t a paid role, but we’ll cover your expenses for being a mentor, and seek out training and qualifications that can run alongside your volunteering if that’s of interest. You’ll be part of a small, lively and committed team determined to transform the life chances of some of the most overlooked young people in our communities.

A full DBS check and an independent character reference will be required.
